People, Place, and Time

Telling my family's stories

Recently a corking big catfish was landed from the Mississippi river near Savanna, according to E. H. Minnier of that city. The fish was caught by [Andrew Jackson] Jack Ritenour [son of Wm. Henry Ritenour & Martha Ellen George], a professional fisherman of Savanna, and weighed 75 pounds when landed. It was 4 feet 7 inches long. E. H. writes that a trot line was used to catch it.
