Telling my family's stories
Wills are a very nice way to definitively establish descent. For example, Daniel Black’s will lists Ellen (Golden) Moorehead as one of his grandchildren, paying her a bit of the value of the estate. Along with reams of other documentation, I have spoken to people who remember Ellen, and positively identify her as Cora Moorehead’s mother, who is the mother of people still living today.
Daniel Black > Ellen Golden > Cora Moorehead > Elmer Ritenour > etc.
